ATTENTION: current lead time on Simple 90 lenses is about 3 to 4 weeks from your order date
(PLEASE NOTE: Select which mount you want in the menu above before adding to cart. I am offering Canon EF, Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon F, Nikon Z, Fuji X, Panasonic / Leica L, micro 4/3, and M42. If I don't offer the lens in the mount you want, then choose M42 (it's the old Pentax screw mount and is adaptable to almost all other formats. You will need an adapter from M42 to your preferred camera mount. These are available widely at local camera shops, amazon, ebay, etc for around 20ish bucks)
I had an idea about a year ago. What if I designed a lens that renounced the complicated designs of modern lenses and embraced some beautiful optical flaws, while controlling for uglier ones? In pursuit of that idea, I came up with the simple 90.
This lens uses just two glass elements, arranged in a cemented achromatic doublet. The result is a dreamy, distinctive rendering that’s tack-sharp in the center and gradually softens toward the edges. Wide open at f/2.8, the effect is prominent. Stopping down to f/11 brings more control, but the signature look remains.
The lens uses an aperture chip system (sometimes known as a Waterhouse stop). Each camera comes with three aperture chips, f2.8, f5.6, and f11. I am also making 3d printable files available for free if you want to print out some different stops or even odd shaped apertures for Bokeh effects. Click here for the files.
I’ve been shooting with the Simple 90 for over a year and love the images it produces. It's designed to cover nearly all sensor sizes. Micro 4/3, APSC, Super35, Full Frame, even digital medium format. (I regularly use mine on a fuji GFX50r)
Every lens is hand-assembled and 3D printed by me, including the housing and mechanics. Only the optical glass and screws are sourced externally. By default, it comes with a Pentax M42 screw mount, chosen for its broad compatibility. M42 adapters are widely available for virtually all mirrorless and DSLR systems. All Simple 90 Lens orders come with one front cap. Extra lens caps are available for purchase.
This is not a clinical lens. It’s for photographers and videographers who want to explore texture, character, and imperfection. If you’re looking for something different — something with some soul — the Simple 90 might be exactly what your kit is missing.
